Preface

There are Two Armageddon Events in the Scriptures:

  1. The first is at the end of the Tribulation Period and is the most documented in scripture of the two events.
  2. The second is after the Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ

Before reading this topic, it might be helpful to understand more about events occurring before the first Armageddon Event by reading Tribulation Purpose, 70th Week of Daniel, Tribulation Period, Mark of the Beast, Antichrist, and Israel's Military Neutralized topics.

Many people are often frightened about reading about the Armageddon, where both events are to give God Glory and also rewards to all of us who are faithful.  If you haven't asked Jesus Christ to be your Savior, do so now.

Armageddon, from the scriptural perspective, is when the world's armies attempt go to war against God.  There are two scriptural Armageddon events and God eliminates the armies without a battle that gives Glory to God.

There are three future battles that God will intervene.  There are other periods in history where God this also, such as the Long Day of Joshua and when walls came down at Jericho as read in Joshua 5:13 through Joshua 6:27.

This is an excerpt from the "Gog and Magog, and Three future Battles on Earth that God Intervenes" topic:

  Category   Details
1 First Gog and Magog Event   An invasion attempt of Israel from a confederacy of countries, being led by a country to the north of Israel before the start of the 70th Week of Daniel.  The 70th Week of Daniel is a seven-year period:
    (a) Of three and one-half years of a false peace followed by
    (b) Three and one-half years of horrible judgments by God against the Earth called the Tribulation Period.
The scriptural passages of Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39, which was written approximately 2,600 years ago, is the primary scriptural source information passages and is a very interesting proof of the scriptures naming events that will happen.
    (c) There are two extra period of days in Daniel 12:11-12 which describe an unknown period which God has assigned for a special purpose, which can only be speculated.

2 First Armageddon Event   God intervenes as discussed further in this topic.

3 Second Gog and Magog Event and Second Armageddon Event   It is the last battle attempt by Lucifer, which occurs after the Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ.  See Revelation 20:7-10.  Lucifer deceives the nations from the "four corners of the Earth" for a very brief period to come against God.
    (a) This second Gog and Magog Event after the Millennial Kingdom, has an undetermined amount of days
    (b) This second event is also known as the second Armageddon Event.
    (c) The requirement of days, is of course known by God, where it can be theorized it is enough for the gathering under Gog and Magog, which was orchestrated by Lucifer after Lucifer's release from chains as read in Revelation 20:7-9.

Summary of the First Armageddon Event

Many Christians and non-Christians have all heard about Armageddon and believe the event is meant to be the most frightening military event in all of history because of fighting between different armies that include the 200,000,000 soldier army from the Kings of the East.  The name Armageddon is from the name in Hebrew for the area pronounced like Armageddon that has Mount Megiddo near by and a large valley to enable the world's armies to assemble against one another, Revelation 16:16.

Revelation 16:16 And they gathered them together into the place which is called in Hebrew Har-Magedon.

Some details of the Armageddon Event that occurs at the end of the Tribulation Period:

  1. Initially the Kings of the East's army and the World's armies gather to make war against the Antichrist's army.  There are four specific Fallen Angels leading the Kings of the East that were released from chains at the Great River Euphrates.
  2. All of the the armies, headed for Har-Magedon, are composed of land (army), water (navy), air (planes), and remote rocket equipment, which collectively is called an army.
  3. All of the armies, when they are approaching Har-Magedon, are with the goal of defending their home territories and conquering one another.  While they are moving, they will be murdering everyone they come into contact, but stopping when they arrive at the valley of Har-Magedon.
  4. The deaths, caused by the different armies as they approach the event, are part of God's Judgments against Evil in the Tribulation Period.
  5. Before the arrival at the designated Har-Magedon location, the military commanders are given orders NOT to attack each other's armies.  In order for cascading fighting to NOT occur between the different armies, the Satanic Realm controlling the different armies have the military commanders negotiate a unknown type of ceasefire to accomplish the gathering to fight against God.
  6. The fight against God is not disclosed to the army by the Satanic Realm under Lucifer.  The Satanic Realm will use a deception to have the armies believe they are fighting someone or something other than God, which is one of the aspects and consequences of the Great Lie of Thessalonians 2:11 for those who reject Jesus Christ.  They are deceived into joining one another in a battle against God.  Some Biblical Scholars, including this author, have the theory that the armies do NOT know they are actually fighting God but deceived into thinking they are fighting against an extraterrestrial force from somewhere in the Universe.  Scriptural proof is Psalm 2, which is a dialogue between the Triune God about the ridiculous attempt to fight God.
  7. The united armies of the Antichrist, Kings of the East and the World attempt to make war against Jesus Christ who arrives and sits upon a white horse at the event.
    (a) Biblical Scholars have the belief the horse is stationary high in the air so that everyone there can see Jesus Christ.
    (b) The horse is a white horse identified in Revelation 19:11, and the rider is identified as Jesus Christ in Revelation 19:12-16.
    (c) Psalm 2 is a discussion between the Triune God about the battle.
  8. Jesus Christ will use His Word (Revelation 19:21) to destroy all of the armies at the event in just a single moment.
  9. The corpses of the Antichrist's army, the Kings of the East army and the World's armies will feed the birds to their fullness, announced in Revelation 19:17.
  10. The Antichrist and the False Prophet are cast alive into the Lake of Fire.  From the scriptures, they are the two first humans to be sent there.
Revelation 19:19-21

him / beast is the Antichrist (black highlight and white letters.  His image is the Abomination of Desolation)

Him/His is Jesus Christ sitting on a white horse

His army is God's Angels and the Redeemed as observers.

19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him that sat upon the horse, and against His army.

20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought the signs in his sight, wherewith he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast and them that worshipped his image: they two were cast alive into the lake of fire that burneth with brimstone:

21 and the rest were killed with the sword of Him that sat upon the horse, even the sword which came forth out of His mouth: and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

All the participants, gathering at the Armageddon Event, are going because of the belief given by the Satanic Realm that their future is in jeopardy unless they go on the offensive to fight in the war.  It is a deception, based on "signs and wonders", from the Satanic World as read in Revelation 16:14.  Some Biblical Scholars, including this author, believe the deception is using a type of fear that has never been known before this time in Earth's history because of the events in Revelation 16:17-21.

Revelation 16:14 for they are spirits of demons, working signs; which go forth unto the kings of the whole world, to gather them together unto the war of the great day of God, the Almighty.

After the first Armageddon Event, the next event is the Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ which happens after the Tribulation Period.  The 1,000 years of peace is a wonderful time, but the problem is human beings still have the sin judgment where we all are not perfect and still have the sin nature.  During the millennial period, Jesus Christ does not allow murder, theft and many other sins, but human still have the desire that has not been dealt with yet.

Summary of the Second Armageddon

The Second Armageddon Event is not very well-known by Christians and non-Christians.  The Judgment of God against the people who are there is staggering in the ramifications of numbers of human beings, "the number of whom is as the sand of the sea", that are at the Second Armageddon Event.

When the Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ is over, Lucifer will be released from chains, in lower Sheol, to deceive the nations of the World one last time where they will once again gather to fight against God.  The scriptures do not give us the deception used by Lucifer, but speculation is it will be similar to the previous Armageddon event's deception.  God destroys the entire army with "fire from heaven" in a single moment.

The second Armageddon event is detailed in the scriptures is also the second Gog and Magog Event.

Revelation 20:7-10

The second event with  even a larger number of armies.

7 And when the thousand years are finished, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 and shall come forth to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up over the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down out of heaven, and devoured them. 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where are also the beast and the false prophet; and they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

After the second Armageddon Event is over, the next event is the Great White Thrown of Judgment followed by Eternity without evil in the "new Heaven and new Earth".  Biblical Scholars sometimes disagree when the Judgment Seat of Christ occurs.

Some Biblical Scholars and this author, believe because of God's different Time Domains, that the Judgment Seat of Christ occurs in Earth's time domain after the Tribulation Period, but in Heaven before Eternity starts.  The invitation only event called the Wedding Supper of the Lamb happens after the Judgment Seat of Christ in order for the Believing Over-Comers, that are in Heaven prior to the end of the Tribulation Period's end to rule with Jesus Christ during the Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

Everything in the Kingdom of God, which includes Heaven, Earth and the entire Universe will be burnt up and gone after the second Armageddon Event because:

  1. Lucifer and the Fallen Angels were in the old Heaven where they tainted it.
  2. The Earth was tainted by humans who rejected God.
  3. The Universe was corrupted and taken out of perfection by the fall of Adam and Eve.

When all the Fallen Angels, Demons, and human beings without Salvation are permanently sent to the Lake of Fire then the New Kingdom of God and New Heavens is permanently established where there will be:

  1. Perfect human beings, without the sin nature and never die, living on the new Earth.
  2. All of God's Angels and human beings that have new glorified bodies.

for eternity.  All of those who go to the Lake of Fire will not see the New Heavens and New Earth.  All those with Salvation will not remember those going to the Lake of Fire as part of the twelve judgments against those going to the Lake of Fire (see point 12).

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth are passed away; and the sea is no more.
Revelation 21:5 And he that sitteth on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he saith, Write: for these words are faithful and true.

Note that the scriptures are full of double patterns where the two Armageddon Events are one of many.  Biblical Scholars state that God purposely uses patterns in prophecy to teach and reveal Himself to us, and for our understanding of God's absolute control and sovereignty.

Participants in the First Armageddon Event

Several non-Biblical sources state that the valley of Har-Magedon is the location that has had the most fighting in the history of the Earth where Egyptians, Israelites, Greeks, Muslims, Crusaders, Mongols, British, Germans, Arabs and modern-day Israelis have died there.  It has additionally also been a nearly constant location of small skirmishes between small groups.

The participants at the first Armageddon Event are:

The most well-known introductory chapters concerning the events leading up to the Armageddon Event are Ezekiel Chapter 38 and Chapter 39 which is discussed in the Gog and Magog topic.  The following scriptures, from the Book of Revelation, give us additional details of the Armageddon event.

Revelation 16:14 for they are spirits of demons, working signs; which go forth unto the kings of the whole world, to gather them together unto the war of the great day of God, the Almighty.
Revelation 16:16 And they gathered them together into the place which is called in Hebrew Har-Magedon.
Revelation 19:21 and the rest were killed with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, even the sword which came forth out of his mouth: and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

Two ancillary and related notes of interest:
  1. There is a very interesting point about the Book of Joshua.  A few Biblical Scholars, including this author, believe it is a model of the Book of Revelation's Tribulation Period
  2. Some Biblical Scholars and this author believe the absence of the United States and other countries from South and North America, at the Armageddon Event, is because of the Judgment that occurred against some of the areas there which is explained in the "Young Lions - Australia, Canada, New Zealand, USA, others" topic

Participants at the Second Armageddon Event

The participants at the Second Armageddon Event are like the "sands of the sea".  The scripture doesn't describe more about the participants other than:

  1. Lucifer
  2. Gog and Magog
  3. Fallen Angels and most likely Demons
  4. People of the Earth who never asked Jesus Christ to be their Savior.
Revelation 20:7-10 7 And when the thousand years are finished, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 and shall come forth to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

Location of the First Armageddon Event

The Location of the valley of Megiddo, also known as Har-Magedon, is the first Armageddon Event shown in this map below.  Notes:

Location of the Second Armageddon Event

The second Armageddon Event has the location of surrounding the city of  Jerusalem, "the beloved city", in Israel as read in Revelation 20:7-10.

What to read next?

We have eternal lifeEvolution is not real.  When a Christian suffers is there benefits from it.  Rewards in heaven.  Do we Tithe?  What does the 3rd Commandment tell us?  What is Salvation?  What is Grace and Mercy?  Is there an Age of Accountability?
