Armageddon, from the scriptural perspective, is when the world's armies attempt go to war against God.  There are two scriptural Armageddon events and God eliminates the armies without a battle that gives Glory to God.

Triune God Speaking in Psalm 2

This topic is dealing with Psalm 2 discussion, between the Godhead, concerning:

Three notes:

  1. Many Biblical Commentaries state that Psalm 2 is a continuation of Psalm 1, which is true as Psalm 1 is setting the context of the differences between the righteous and the wicked before the thoughts of our God.  The future of the wicked is always judgment and perishing.
  2. The scriptures have many examples of a topic being spoken about and there is a transition to additional information.  Probably one of the most well know examples that God uses is when Ezekiel 28:11-19 and Isaiah 14:3-23 are speaking about the King of Tyre and King of Babylon where there is a switch to speak about Lucifer's fall.

The following table listing of Psalm 2 contains the theory of identification on Who in the Triune God are speaking.  This author first heard about the identification of the Godhead speaking from Chuck Missler.  Note there is still the parallel meaning for David's prayer and submission to God.

When reading Psalm 2, keep in mind John 15:26 and John 6:37, amongst many other scriptures which:

John 15:26 But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness about me.
John 6:37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.

Psalm 2

Holy Spirit speaking:

1 Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bonds asunder, And cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision.
5 Then will he speak unto them in his wrath, And vex them in his sore displeasure:

God the Father speaking:

6 Yet I have set my king Upon my holy hill of Zion.

Jesus Christ speaking:

7 I will tell of the decree: Jehovah said unto me, Thou art my son; This day have I begotten thee.
8 Ask of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

Holy Spirit speaking:

10 Now therefore be wise, O ye kings: Be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11 Serve Jehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that take refuge in him.

Key Parts to Notice

The key parts to the Psalm 2, written by King David, are:

  1. It is a threefold prophecy dealing with
    (a) David's predicament against his enemies.
    (b) The End of the Tribulation Period, where Jesus Christ will establish the 1,000 ~ Millennial Kingdom.
    (c) The End of the 1,000 ~ Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
  2. Verse 2 points to the Holy Spirit speaking about the council against God the Father: "Against Jehovah".
  3. Verse 6 speaking about God the Father setting a King in Israel, which is speaking about the Messiah Jesus Christ.
  4. Verse 7-9 clearly identifies the Son of the Father, where Jesus Christ is identified as the begotten.
  5. Verses 10-12 also clearly point to the Holy Spirit speaking about God the Father.
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.

What is Psalm 2's Purpose for the Christian?

Many Biblical Scholars propose the main prophecy of Psalm 2 is dealing with:
  1. The many of the entire Earth's Leaders come together to formulate a Plan.
  2. The Plan is to oppose a Controlling Force (CF) outside of the earth, where they do not know it is God, because of the Great Lie.
  3. The Earth's Leaders believe they are capable of opposing the CF and not be under the CF's authority and bonds.
  4. God will view this Plan being thought about and taking place.
  5. God will laugh and then put all of the Earth's Leaders, along with the military/opposing forces created by the Earth's Leaders into a state of confusion.
  6. The Earth's Leaders, once they realize it is Jesus Christ they are opposing, will be in great fear and will try to hide in the earth.  This is the same as what happened to the Five Kings when losing the battle against Joshua.  The Book of Joshua is a small model of the Book of Revelation.
Isaiah 2:19 And men shall go into the caves of the rocks, and into the holes of the earth, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake mightily the earth.
Joshua 10:16-18 16 And these five kings fled, and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah. 17 And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found, hidden in the cave at Makkedah. 18 And Joshua said, Roll great stones unto the mouth of the cave, and set men by it to keep them:
Revelation 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the princes, and the chief captains, and the rich, and the strong, and every bondman and freeman, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains;

While Psalm 1 and 2 are absolutely dealing with King David's prayer, the purpose of Psalm 2's original meaning goes into a far greater meaning just like Ezekiel 28:11-19 and Isaiah 14:3-23 started with an Earthly person but was directed towards Lucifer.

There is an additional interpretation theory dealing with the future concerning Psalm 2, by some Biblical Scholars, which this author is summarizing from a few sources, along with adding some additional speculative thoughts:

  1. In order for the Earth's Leaders to be conspiring against God, then has to be dealing with:
    (a) the end of the Tribulation Period, and
    (b) the end of the 1,000 ~ Millennial Kingdom
  2. In order for the Earth's Leaders to have the thoughts of being able to oppose God, then the Earth's Leaders are being deceived by Lucifer and the Satanic Spiritual Realm into thinking CF can be conquered.
  3. If the deception is there to think a CF can be conquered, then the Earth's Leaders must be thinking that there is no god, but an unseen CF in the Universe that has control over the Earth.
  4. The question asked by many Biblical Scholars, is:
"What or who could the Earth's Leaders think the CF power is that they are 'conquering and breaking their bonds' - Psalm 2:3?"
  5. In a few Biblical Commentaries, that this author has read/heard, the CF is often theorized as a reappearance of the Nephilim, as the meaning of the prophesied by Jesus Christ when speaking in Matthew 24:4, Matthew 24:37 and Daniel 2:43.
    (a) See the section on the "Future Reappearance", in the Nephilim topic, for more scriptural background and interpretation.
    (b) In the Matthew 24:37 verse, Jesus Christ is speaking about something unique from the days of Noah, that Biblical Scholars point to the more complete reason why the Great Flood occurred.
    (c) The Nephilim, according to a few Biblical Commentaries, state the Nephilim will masquerade as Extraterrestrials coming throughout history as UFOs where they represent a galactic power that is opposing another evil galactic power.  See the Nephilim topic for the correlation between Matthew 24:37 and the Nephilim.
    (d) In the Daniel 2:43 reference's full explanation, as is discussed in the Nephilim topic, the key verse part is "they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men", which means they have to be something other than the seed of men.
    (e) Also in the Daniel 2:43 reference, notice the "shall not cleave to one another", which means the mingling is temporary, which Biblical Scholars state the alliance is temporary in order for the Antichrist to get power.  Once the Antichrist has power, through Lucifer, then the first goal is to eliminate all Jews from the planet and then the last deception is to go to war against God.
Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Matthew 24:37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
Daniel 2:43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
  6. This author has a theory in development, which a few Biblical Scholars have speculated something similar, that there may be a potential of the future Great Lie will have a foundation created by a new agnostic type-of belief in reincarnation group (NATRG), where the NATRG already have websites, classes and groups of followers.
    (a) The NATRG state that the Earth is a prison planet of Souls, where we all are destine for never ending reincarnations, as explained in the Reincarnation Topic.
    (b) This NATRG group could be the start of the future Great Lie.
    (c) As mentioned in #5, the Nephilim could be appearing as visitors from other worlds in the universe where thy will state that they have come to help the Earth from a great war that will be happening soon against an evil galactic entity, where the entity is really God.
