This author first heard of this from commentaries from Chuck Missler's presentation on the Book of Joshua. It is a fascinating find that he discovered that shows how God always uses patterns in fulfilling prophecy of future events.

In the Book of Joshua in the Old Testament, Joshua takes over leadership of Israel from Moses after Moses' death. Israel is about to enter the Promised Land by crossing the Jordan River and God has given Joshua instructions on conquering the land. Below are some of the parallels to the Book of Joshua compared to the Book of Revelation:

Joshua's name in Greek can be rendered as Jesus. There are letters in Hebrew that do not translate into Greek, but it is very close. In Hebrew, Joshua is הוֹשׁוּעַ Yehoshua or יְהוֹשֻׁעַ Yehoshua “the LORD is salvation.” In Greek, Ιησους (Iēsous, sounds like ee-ay-soos). So, in the Greek New Testament Jesus and Joshua are both Iēsous.
Joshua's mission is to remove specific tribes that inhabit the Promise Land. These tribes consists of the Nephilim where God instructs Joshua to wipe out all that breathe in Deuteronomy 20:16-18. These tribes, according to Biblical Scholars, were setup during the 400 years of captivity that Israel went through in Egypt. When God informs Jacob that it is okay to go to Egypt in Genesis 46:2-4 and that God will make his family a great nation before bringing them back, then Lucifer had time to setup the Nephilim filled Tribes in the Promise Land as a barrier to God's plans. In the Book of Revelation, Jesus Christ is returning to the Earth and will be removing evil mankind and also a reoccurrence of the Nephilim as predicted in the Book of Daniel, Matthew 24:37 and other inferences.
In the Book of Joshua Chapter 2, Joshua sends two spies into Jericho but they do not bring back information. These two spies end up being two witnesses to Rahab and getting her and her family saved from the invasion and destruction that is about to happen. This is an important assignment as Rahab becomes a Gentile bride that is part of the Royal Blood Line of Jesus Christ. In the Book of Revelation, God sends two Witnesses into Jerusalem to be witnesses to the World, Jew and Gentile, to accept the opportunity to be Saved.

Hebrews 11:31	By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.
James 2:25	And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?
Matthew 1:5	and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse,

In the Book of Joshua, the rules of the Torah are ignored as the Levites are part of the army. In Joshua 6:2-4, Israel is instructed to march around Jericho for 6 days, keeping quiet, until the seventh day they blow their trumpets. In the Book of Revelation, there is a silence and the seven trumpets are introduced.
In the Book of Joshua, there are kings aligning themselves under a false lord calling himself, Adonizedek ~ the lord of righteousness, where these kings are defeated at the Battle of Horon when Joshua asked God to extend the day so that Israel could fully conquer Adonizedek. God replied in Joshua 10:12-13 that the sun and moon will keep their place in the sky. In the Book of Revelation, there are signs in the Heavens with the Sun and the Moon mentioned as pending judgment against the Earth Dwellers who are following the Antichrist.

Joshua 10:12-13

12 On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.” 13 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar the spies.

Revelation 6:12-14

12 When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, 13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. 14 The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place out by another way?

In the Book of Joshua, the defeated kings hide in caves. In the Book of Revelation, the Earth Dwellers, who are following the Antichrist, hide in the earth and caves.

Joshua 10:22-26

22 Joshua said, “Open the mouth of the cave and bring those five kings out to me.” 23 So they brought the five kings out of the cave—the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon. 24 When they had brought these kings to Joshua, he summoned all the men of Israel and said to the army commanders who had come with him, “Come here and put your feet on the necks of these kings.” So, they came forward and placed their feet on their necks. 25 Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous. This is what the Lord will do to all the enemies you are going to fight.” 26 Then Joshua put the kings to death and exposed their bodies on five poles, and they were left hanging on the poles until evening.

Revelation 6:15-17

15 Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; 16 and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"
