Holy of Holies of the Old Testament

There is a section of scripture in the Book of Isaiah that is often called the Holy of Holies regarding scriptures in the Old Testament.  It is described that way because it gives an undeniably prophetic description of the:

  1. Childhood,
  2. Life,
  3. Mission for our Salvation,
  4. Crucifixion and
  5. Accomplishment 

of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.  There cannot be any disagreement that the scriptural passage is dealing with Messiah that is promised throughout the entire Old Testament.

It has been often said that the entire Old Testament in one way or other points to the purpose and reason for the Messiah.  One of this author's favorite Biblical Commentaries to listen in the car is Chuck Missler who often makes the statement that Jesus Christ is encapsulated and written about on almost every page of the Old Testament.

Isaiah 52:13-15 through Isaiah 53

The Chapter and Verse numbering of the Old Testament is very good, but unfortunately not perfect and is meant only for the aid of reading.  Notice in Isaiah 53, that is should have begun a few verses earlier that is marked as Isaiah 52:13.  When starting with Isaiah 52:13, the full message of the points above concerning Jesus Christ is read more clearly.

Notice some of the key parts, that are summarized at the end of this topic:

  1. Verse 52:13 - Identifies the Servant who will prosper and be Greatly Exalted.  The Messiah is Jesus Christ as predicted by Daniel 9.
  2. Verse 52:14 - Shows that (many but not all) of Israel will be appalled by you.  ((The Tribulation Purpose is for Israel to recognize their Messiah.))
  3. Verse 52:14 continued - The Servant will be marred beyond that of a man, points to the scourging before the Crucifixion.  This is why the Shroud of Turin, even if it is real, cannot give us a true likeness of Jesus Christ.
  4. Verse 52:15 - Points to the problem that no matter the time in history, no one can find fault with Him on what He has said and done.  Pilot in John 19:4, could find no fault with Him.
  5. Verse 52:15 continued - Without even hearing or seeing, Kings of the Earth will know what is righteous that came from Him, because we all are made by God to know there is a God even if there is rejection.  See Romans 1:18-19.
  6. Verse 53:1 - Is asking the world to believe.
  7. Verse 53:2 - There was nothing about Him that anyone would think He is distinguished, kingly or the Messiah.
  8. Verse 53:2 continued - He grew up, as a perfect child under adverse conditions, comparison of the "dry ground", as also described in Psalm 69.
  9. Verse 53:3 - The New Testament Epistles describe the adversity that Jesus Christ experienced that climaxed at the Crucifixion.  The Crucifixion was an accomplishment and not a tragedy!
  10. Verses 53:4-6 - Explains why Jesus Christ endured the life He experienced and taking the death, that all of us deserved, in our place.
  11. Verse 53:7 - Points to the Messiah, Jesus Christ, taking out place.  While Jesus Christ was innocent, as even Pilate spoke publicly, in actually Jesus Christ was not innocent because He took on our sins.  This is why Jesus Christ did not and could not speak in His own defense.
    John 19:4 Pilate went out again and said to them, “See, I am bringing him out to you that you may know that I find no guilt in him.”
  12. Verse 53:8: - Indicates the Messiah would be executed, "cut off from the land of the living", by oppression / false judgment which were actually due against the people of God (those who would accept God in their lives) for the sins of these people.  God exists outside of all Time Domains, where God knows who will accept Him.
  13. Verse 53:9 - Describes the other two men at the Cross who were found guilty by Roman Law, to face death.  One of them is described as the "Thief on the Cross", who received Salvation from Jesus Christ, and has been earning eternal Rewards in Heaven because of others who have looked at the Thief before their death to ask Jesus Christ to be their Savior.
  14. Verse 53:9 continued - Jesus was buried in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea as read in Matthew 27:57-61
  15. Verse 53:10-12 - These verses give us the summary reason, accomplishment, reward, future actions and mission for us.
Isaiah 52:13-15 13 Behold, My Servant will prosper, He will be high and lifted up and greatly exalted. 14 Just as many were appalled at you, My people, So His appearance was marred beyond that of a man, And His form beyond the sons of mankind. 15 So He will sprinkle many nations, Kings will shut their mouths on account of Him; For what they had not been told, they will see, And what they had not heard, they will understand.
Isaiah 53:1-12 1 Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? 2 For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of dry ground; He has no stately form or majesty That we would look at Him, Nor an appearance that we would take pleasure in Him. 3 He was despised and abandoned by men, A man of great pain and familiar with sickness; And like one from whom people hide their faces, He was despised, and we had no regard for Him.

4 However, it was our sicknesses that He Himself bore, And our pains that He carried; Yet we ourselves assumed that He had been afflicted, Struck down by God, and humiliated. 5 But He was pierced for our offenses, He was crushed for our wrongdoings; The punishment for our well-being was laid upon Him, And by His wounds we are healed. 6 All of us, like sheep, have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the wrongdoing of us all To fall on Him.

7 He was oppressed and afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off from the land of the living For the wrongdoing of my people, to whom the blow was due? 9 And His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.

10 But the Lord desired To crush Him, causing Him grief; If He renders Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand. 11 As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, For He will bear their wrongdoings. 12 Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the plunder with the strong, Because He poured out His life unto death, And was counted with wrongdoers; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the wrongdoers.

Summary of Points

As a summary, here is a small list, that could be much larger, which is reflected in scriptural passage of the Holy of Hollies of the Old Testament:

  1. No beauty or majesty,
  2. Despised and rejected,
  3. A man of suffering,
  4. Familiar with pain,
  5. Despised,
  6. Took up our pain and bore our suffering yet we considered Him punished by God,
  7. He was pierced for transgressions,
  8. Crushed for our iniquities,
  9. Punishment that brought us peace was on Him,
  10. By His wounds we are healed,
  11. When He was afflicted, He did not open his mouth to complain,
  12. Like a lamb, He was led to the slaughter,
  13. The Lord (God the Father) has laid on him the iniquity of us all" ... so much more.

The Encryption behind the Isaiah 53 Passage

The first astounding list of encryptions found as noted from many different sources, which this author can't find the original work, can be summarized by:
  1. High Priest Caiphas.
  2. Elements of the Passover, where Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of Passover Lamb as detailed in the Crucifixion topic.
  3. Eleven of Disciples names:
    (a) James twice because there were two Disciples/Apostles named James
    (b) Bartholomew is not listed, which may mean he wasn't at the Crucifixion.
    (c) Judas Iscariot is not in the list.
  4. Mary, Jesus' earthly mother.  Mary Magdalene, Salome and the other Mary mentioned in the scriptures.  Two Marys visited the Garden Tomb.
  5. Other people from the scriptures that would point to the Crucifixion as from God or opposed against God.

The second astounding encryption found is:

In Isaiah 53:5, Yacov Rambsel of San Antonio, Tx found by skipping of every 12th letter spells out "Yeshua is My Name".  Y’shua shmi.  Jeshua is the word Jesus in Hebrew.
