Possibly Remedy for Stomach Ulcers and Acid Reflux

Vitamin U has been found to be a potential source and remedy for at least these areas:

  1. Acid Reflux,
  2. Gastric Ulcers,

Vitamin U is not actual a vitamin but was given this nickname because of its potential usage for Ulcers.  Vitamin U is actually a substance called S-Methylmethionine.  It can be found in several different types of food sources such as cabbage and it can also be made synthetically.

Some food sources are:

  1. Alfalfa Sprouts,
  2. Cabbage,
  3. Celery,
  4. Green Cabbage Leaves,
  5. Kale,
  6. Parsley
  7. Radishes,
  8. Spinach,
  9. Tomatoes,
  10. Turnips, and
  11. Wheat

Historically, the well-known home remedy, that has been endorsed in many medical sources, is to drink Cabbage Juice Daily within one minute after juicing.  The Vitamin U element is susceptible to heat and exposure to external influences. 

An Internet Search will quickly bring up many links to getting information and discussing this possibly remedy.  Below in some additional information from a 1949 Article, which shows that the remedy and possible cure has been known for a long time.

Healing Duration

These investigators studied 63 cases of duodenal ulcer and six case of gastric ulcer by this method.  The found the average healing time for 62 of the patients with duodenal ulcer to be 37 days, with a range of 13 to 68 days.  The average time in the six of gastric ulcer was 42 days with a range of 18 to 68 days.

All the patients receive the same therapeutic regime which can be briefly described as "routine" and included hospital care, bland diet, frequent feedings of milk, alkalization, antispasmodics, regular sedation and limitations of the use of tobacco.
