Appointed to Die Only One Time?

The scripture of Hebrews 9:27 is sometimes quoted out of context to:

  1. Incorrectly assert that a human-being can only die once.
  2. Incorrectly state that Near Death Experiences are not real.

The correct interpretation of Hebrews 9:27 is taking the passage of verses surrounding verse 67 which explains that everyone is judged on the one life-time lived, only.  There are many people who have Near Death Experiences or temporarily have a medical condition such as a heart-attack or stroke which medically could be defined as death, but after resuscitation they are still living the same life, they had before, and not a new one.

Hebrews 9:25-28 25 Nor did He enter heaven to offer Himself again and again, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. 26 Otherwise, Christ would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But now He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 Just as man is appointed to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so also Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await Him.

Those Who Died Twice or Never Died

In the scriptures there are several examples of those who experienced a physical death, that would have been defined medically dead, but "came back to life" to continue on with the life they had previously.  After they came back to life, then they would eventually die a second time.

The foremost example and the purpose of all history is the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.  Jesus Christ was crucified on Wednesday and rose from the grave on the Feast of First Fruits, Sunday.

1 Kings 17:20-23 Elijah raises the Widower's son:
20 He called to the LORD and said, “O LORD my God, have You also brought calamity to the widow with whom I am staying, by causing her son to die?” 21 Then he stretched himself upon the child three times, and called to the LORD and said, “O LORD my God, I pray You, let this child’s life return to him.” 22 The LORD heard the voice of Elijah, and the life of the child returned to him and he revived. 23 Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper room into the house and gave him to his mother; and Elijah said, “See, your son is alive.”
2 Kings 4:18-37 The Shunammite's Son:
18 When the child was grown, the day came that he went out to his father to the reapers. 19 He said to his father, “My head, my head.” And he said to his servant, “Carry him to his mother.” 20 When he had taken him and brought him to his mother, he sat on her lap until noon, and then died.
33 So he entered and shut the door behind them both and prayed to the LORD. 34 And he went up and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth and his eyes on his eyes and his hands on his hands, and he stretched himself on him; and the flesh of the child became warm. 35 Then he returned and walked in the house once back and forth, and went up and stretched himself on him; and the lad sneezed seven times and the lad opened his eyes.
2 Kings 13:20-21 A man brought back to life when his body touched Elisha's corpse:
20 And Elisha died and was buried. Now the Moabite raiders used to come into the land every spring. 21 Once, as the Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders, so they threw the man’s body into Elisha’s tomb. And as soon as his body touched the bones of Elisha, the man was revived and stood up on his feet.
Luke 7:11-15 Jesus raises a Widower's son in the town of Nain:
12 As He approached the town gate, He saw a dead man being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said, “Do not weep.” 14 Then He went up and touched the coffin, a and those carrying it stood still. “Young man,” He said, “I tell you, get up!” 15 And the dead man sat up and began to speak! Then Jesus gave him back to his mother.
Luke 8:49-56 Jairus' Daughter raised:
49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Teacher. 50 But Jesus hearing it, answered him, Fear not: only believe, and she shall be made whole. 51 And when he came to the house, he suffered not any man to enter in with him, save Peter, and John, and James, and the father of the maiden and her mother. 52 And all were weeping, and bewailing her: but he said, Weep not; for she is not dead, but sleepeth. 53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. 54 But he, taking her by the hand, called, saying, Maiden, arise. 55 And her spirit returned, and she rose up immediately: and he commanded that something be given her to eat. 56 And her parents were amazed: but he charged them to tell no man what had been done.
John 11:1-44 Lazarus comes out of the tomb after being dead for four days:
14 Then Jesus therefore said unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
43 And when he had thus spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. 44 He that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave-clothes; and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
Matthew 27:51-53 Many came out of their tombs to witness of the completed work of Jesus Christ's death on the Cross and resurrection.  These were some of those who had Faith in God and awaited the moment from Upper Sheol:
51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split 52 and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
Acts 9:36-40 Tabatha raised by Peter's prayer:
36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and alms deeds which she did. 37 And it came to pass in those days, that she fell sick, and died: and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper chamber. 38 And as Lydda was nigh unto Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men unto him, entreating him, Delay not to come on unto us. 39 And Peter arose and went with them. And when he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. 40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning to the body, he said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes; and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
Acts 20:7-12 Paul prays and Eutychus come back to life after falling to his death:
9 And there sat in the window a certain young man named Eutychus, borne down with deep sleep; and as Paul discoursed yet longer, being borne down by his sleep he fell down from the third story, and was taken up dead.  10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Make ye no ado; for his life is in him. 11 And when he was gone up, and had broken the bread, and eaten, and had talked with them a long while, even till break of day, so he departed. 12 And they brought the lad alive, and were not a little comforted.

There is also the two cases of Enoch and Elijah who did not die a bodily death as they were Raptured into most likely into the entrance of Heaven and then to Upper Sheol to await the payment of the Cross by Jesus Christ.

There is also all of those who will be Raptured before the Tribulation Period beings, who will never have suffered a physical earthly body death.

Reincarnation Real?

The following is an excerpt from the Reincarnation Topic:

The Christian should know these points, of many more that could be listed, against reincarnation having any validity:

  1. God created the Universe and the Universe will be destroyed by fervent heat as read in 2 Peter 3:10-13.  The generalized belief in reincarnation is human-beings are immortal souls that have always been in existence in the universe.  The universe had a beginning with the Creation by God and while all human-being have immortality after they are born, they did not always exist.
  2. All human-beings are a three-part immortal creation by God which contains a Soul, Spirit-Body and Physical-Body as discussed in detail in the Human-Being topic.
  3. The ancient writing of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism along with other writings that are the basis of the religious systems that believe in reincarnation are actually writings that were written down thousands of years after the supposed creation.
    (a) Time Gap between Rigveda and surviving written text is over a 3,000 years difference, which means it is mythical and deception from Lucifer.
    (b) Time Gap between Samaveda and surviving written text is over a 3,000 years difference, which means it is mythical and deception from Lucifer.
    (c) Time Gap between Yajurveda and surviving written text is over a 3,000 years difference, which means it is mythical and deception from Lucifer.
  4. There was no religious system, that had part of its priestly and disciple traditions that required exact detail copying, with a verification system, of the scriptural text other than the Jewish and Christian Religions, which is discussed in the Bible Source Text.  For a complete chart of most of the most commonly known historic writings see the chart in the topic on Archeological.
  5. The Encryptions in the Bible, that transcend both Old and New Testament, are replete in counts of over 100,000 dealing with a book that spans thousands of years by over forty authors prove the authenticity has to be God who exists outside of all the Time Domains of all the dimensions of our universe.
  6. The Satanic World contains spiritual power that can possess a human-being which can witness to the host human-being, with information that has occurred in history that can have the host human-believing that they lived once before.  This is not a fringe area, as there are many scriptures that speak about possession along with fortune tellers that try to predict the future.  In our modern-time, there is is a science called Remote Viewing that is in use for covert activates along with information gathering.

Destiny of Lake of Fire, A Final Death

Those who are born-again through the Holy Spirit, can die a physical death but can never have a death that leads to eternity in the Lake of Fire.  When we except Jesus Christ as our Savior, we are marked with Salvation which is a gift by Grace that cannot be lost.

John 3:3-16 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born anew (born-again), he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born anew. 8 The wind bloweth where it will, and thou hearest the voice thereof, but knowest not whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. 9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? 10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou the teacher of Israel, and understandest not these things? 11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that which we know, and bear witness of that which we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 12 If I told you earthly things and ye believe not, how shall ye believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 And no one hath ascended into heaven, but he that descended out of heaven, even the Son of man, who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up; 15 that whosoever believeth may in him have eternal life.

What is Salvation?  Is it possible to lose Salvation?  We have eternal life Evolution is not real.  When a Christian suffers is there benefits from it.  Do we Tithe?  What does the 3rd Commandment tell us?  What is Grace and Mercy?  Is there an Age of Accountability?  Is there a place of unending punishment and exile form God?
