The United States roots were founded by Christians who came with the desire to have freedom to worship God in any form desired, which was being suppressed in many of the countries of origin.

The first Amendment to the Constitution was intended for the protection of worship and the freedom of speech with the ability to assemble for both worship and non-worship.

1st Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

One of the most hypocritical statements by people of other religious backgrounds, that are not Christian or do not have a belief system, is the comment that they find Christianity Offensive.  The very option that they have a choice, and the freedom of expression to make comments to that effect, is because of what the framers of the United States had in mind that protects the Christian and the non-Christian.

To be offended by Christianity, with comments and actions against Christianity, is actually protesting and attacking the very tenants of the United States Constitutional liberties that make the freedom so extraordinarily desirable to live in this country.
